The classroom & beyond

The classroom is only the beginning — and you don't even have to start there.

Our environmental studies department is among the largest at national liberal arts colleges, offering opportunities for majors and non-majors alike.

Many departments and programs, from biology to globalization studies, also offer courses relating to sustainability.

Service learning and cocurricular leadership opportunities abound, from serving as a paid recycling intern to tending the student garden or volunteering with community agencies.

Thanks in part to Gettysburg's focus on sustainability, many alumni go on to careers in the field. For example, 2008 graduate Jason Loh (above) is planning to study environmental law.
