Book Arts

Musselman Library celebrates the intersection of books and the visual arts, with an exhibition highlighting artists who preserve the traditional forms of the book, as well as those who use the book as inspiration for new work.
The seven artists exhibiting in Musselman Library challenge us to expand our perceptions about books and how they are "read." On display are constructions crafted from recycled materials and glass, handmade accordion books, traditional fine bindings and antique bookbinding tools. In addition medieval and Persian miniature inspired illuminations are on exhibit.
We invite you to explore the book arts at Musselman Library. Additional information about the artists accompanies each display case. Some works are available for sale; see the price list at the Circulation Desk for details. This exhibit was organized with the help of The Gettysburg Festival and will run through December 1, 2009.
